If the United States had not dropped two atomic bombs on Japan in 1945 in order to quickly end World War II, there would have been lasting consequences on the world. For starters, the Allies would have been obligated to completely invade Japan. Since the Japanese army would not surrender, there would be many casualties on both sides, and if civilians would not comply with the Allies’ will, the Allies would be forced to take drastic measures in order to completely quell Japanese imperialism, which might result in the complete annexation of Japan itself.
