“The Color Purple” is a 1985 period drama film. It’s based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel.The movie was filmed in North Carolina. It tells a story about a young African American girl named Celie Harris. The movie shows the problems that African American women had to confront during the 1900s for example poverty, which means poor also racism.

Summary The first thing that happened was Celie and Nettie were running through purple flowers, and when they came out you could see that, Celie is pregnant and she is only fourteen. Also her step dad is the father of the baby.After she has the baby the baby girl gets taken away by her stepfather then Celie says that that was her second child. Donny Glover was Albert or Mister who was a rapist,abuser, and a very bad person, but he regretted it in the end. In the movie Margaret Avery who was Shug Avery and she was a singer and a great person who was loving and kind. Akosua Busia who was Nettie, she was a caring nice person also she was very smart. Willard E. Pugh was Harpo Johnson. He was an abuser mostly because of his dad, but then he became a good man. Rae Dawn Chong was Squeak who was Harpo’s girlfriend. Dana Ivey was Mrs. Millie, she made Sophia her slave. Then Adolph Caesar who was Old Mister Johnson who wasn’t a very good man because he only wants a wife to take care of him and to take care of his house.
