The book I choice for my outside reading is, “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak. I chose this book because I find books that take place in a historical era, especially World War II, fascinating and entertaining. I also chose this book because I know it will challenge me with its diction and syntax.
This book will be entertaining for me because of the era this book takes place in. In the past, I have enjoyed reading books that have to do with the 1940s and especially Nazi Germany to see and learn how society was changing due to the war. These gory details caused me to skip the pages and move away as they cause mental pictures in ones mind. Overall, the book causes the reader to trigger their thought and picture what is going on.
I found the book to be easy, exciting reading because the story line was very realistic and easily relatable. This book flowed for me to a point when, at times, it was difficult to put down. There are several things that I like about this book. First off, I love historical fiction, and this is the genre of this book. Also, despite the author being too descriptive, the book went at a steady pace. For me, pace usually determines whether I will read the book or not, and I never really hesitated, or thought about changing books.
Death is a very well-known figure that is feared by many in all countries. He is suspected of being cruel, disturbing and all synonyms of horrifying. Death is inevitable and that is the most fearing aspect of his persona. In Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief, Death is made to seem or resemble humans. Effectively using the narration role, Death introduces a unique description and definition of colors in which he uses as a tool to effectively engage the readers to the events occurring throughout the book. He also demonstrates him personal and different experiences as well, mostly about soul gathering and the implications of WWII that have affected him. On the contrary to Death’s dead, appalling and scary nature that many interpret him to be during the book, Death shows many emotions and features to his personality that reasoning would declare otherwise. One of those feature would be the colors.
I would recommend this book to people who know a little bit of background on the holocausts. In my personal option it makes it easier to understand the books finer points. Also, if you are to recommends this book you base it not on age but the individual person. I loved the book and hope that the book will have us rembering the Holocausts for many years to come.

But, we also watch a few people go out of their way and sacrifice everything for a man they barely even know. They do everything they can to keep him safe and alive. They work harder, the get another job, and they even steal. In Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief, death examines the ugliness and the beauty of humans.
I read the “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak, in which a little girl is thrown into an unknown world without her mother or brother. The main character of the book, Liesel, becomes a foster child in Germany during the 1940s. The book is over a span of years and we grow with Liesel. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone. It is set during the Holocaust, but it is still a coming of age book. I liked this book because the writer managed to write a book about a girl growing up and Nazi Germany. Neither one took away from each other and it all flowed very nicely.
