Always Running is a novel which is referred to as Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A. This book was published in 1993. The author of the book is Luis J. Rodriguez who is a Mexican-American poet and memoirist who has written short stories, children novels and adult novels. His book Always Running was published in the United States and was printed in English. In the book, he discusses the tough moments of being an immigrant in the United States and how he tried to rise from the immense poverty and cases of racism that are common among gangs in Los Angeles. Their gang is named The Impersonation. Later, he joins other gangs including The Animal Tribe. In The Animal Tribe, he then earned his nickname by breaking someone’s jaw “Chin” from his gang friends. During his life in the gang life, he witnesses the murder of many boys and girls while families fall apart due to gang violence. He follows the gang blindly with the feeling that leaving will be a let-down to the fellow members. His fellow members also refuse to smoke too. His intentions are to transform other youth from their gangster life style. In the process, he gets attacked by a group of other members who come shooting at him. However, they miss intentionally but, conveying their warning very clearly to him. Finally, Luis is assisted to escape from the area. He also ends up getting a woman pregnant, but does not know what ends up happening to her. He ends up getting married and having a child. In his new life at a family gathering, he is confronted by a rival gang member who wants to take revenge on him. Instead, he proposes forgiveness instead of resentment on each other.
