All students have learned about the American Revolution during their years of schooling. There were many different events that occurred during the time that led up to the American revolution. However, what they were not taught was the events before the Boston Tea Party that had a heavy influence for the separations of the colonies from Great Britain and those included the French and Indian war, the stamp act, the Townshend act, the Boston massacre, the tea act, and the Boston tea party.
Contrary to what most students believe, the Boston tea party was not the main event that angered the colonists and pushed them the edge and to the separation of the thirteen colonies from Britain. One of the first major events that began the start of the movement …show more content…

It happened during the day and the British soldiers were drawn out of the bar and were then provoked by the colonists. To this day it is still unknown about who fired the first shot or why they did it. But because of that bullet the rest of the soldiers thought they had missed a signal to fire which resulted in an open fire among the colonists. Five colonists died and six others were injured in the Boston massacre. It caused an uproar with the colonists because they felt as though the British had gone too far. The picture that Paul Revere drew depicted the colonists as people who were minding their own business only to have the British soldiers start shooting at them. However, it was proven in court after John Adams defended the British that the soldiers were antagonized and that it was a mistake. It caused anger among most of the colonists because they felt that they were not given justice for the terror the British soldiers brought upon the colonists.
The Tea Act of 1773 was very important because of all the taxes that parliament tried to impose this brought the most unity amongst the colonists. Great Britain had many other colonies, not just the new England colonies. And one of their colonies in East India had produced more tea than what they were able to sell because of competition between England and the Dutch. So in order to get rid of all the tea but still make a profit on it they were going to give it to the new England
