In the past 10 years there has been a substantial decrease in the moral standers for teenager. With the change in music, technology, and fashion the teens of the current generation have fallen into a mind set thinking that using profound language in public is okay and cool to do, that leaving the house half dressed and showing more of their bodies is fashionable, or even thinking that is more social to talk through a text message rather than speaking to someone face to face. Texting brought many benefits to the world at first. It was a faster way to communicate, it brought a way to send a message anywhere in the world with the convenience of it within your hand. This was a small step into a very bright future, but with all of the greatness this brought to the world it eventually had it down sides. Teenagers started to use this way of communication more often then a face to face approach to a person. Teens have lost their socialization skills because they feel it is much easier to talk to a person when you are not in front of them. This is why it is much harder for the average teenager to give speeches or talk and express personal emotions in a productive way to person in real life. Kaitlyn Bindle a journalist for New York Times has discovered that “the social skills of teenagers of 2009 have decreased by 20% due to texting and is predicted to get worse as more and more teenagers begin to start to text”. Compared to the teenagers of the 90s who didn’t have texting had a much higher social skills than the current teenager of 2014. The reason why they were better during face to face conversations or giving out speeches was because they practiced it on a daily by talking to there school peers, friends, and family. In todays fashion it has been based off artist and movie stars, but when the movie star is barely wearing any clothes or the artist is wearing his pants below there waist and is still being called sexy or cool then its only a matter of time before the teenagers start to dress like these stars to look or be the coolest person or prettiest person at there school. For the past 4 years models, female artist and even movie stars started to wear dresses that show a lot more of cleavage and/or skin to appeal to the male hormones and as an end result they are being called hot, sexy, and beautiful. When a teenage girl sees there favorite movie star or artist wearing clothing that shows off more of her body and is getting complemented for it then the girl will start to want the same attention and soon start to wear the same type of clothing, and when the girl gets her outfit and wears it out in public she will naturally get more guys to notice her and give her compliments. The teenage girl will think that she is beautiful because of all the attention that she is getting, but will not realize that when the guy is talking to her is only trying to have sex with her.
