Young adults deserve the opportunity to fair pay. Teenagers are being discriminated against because of their age. Age should not matter at all when it comes to jobs. Adults and teenagers both contribute new ideas to the community and local services. Adults are not the only ones that have to pay bills, teenagers also have responsibilities. When a teenager goes job hunting it takes more than 5 months to get a response and the majority of the time they are denied the job. Adults usually end up taking the jobs they asked for, so why not treat them both equally? Young adults experience discrimination in the work place. One of the main reasons they work is because they have to support their families. Some of these teenagers live in a household with a single parent and have big responsibilities. They might also have other younger siblings which they have to take care of. “Born out of necessity in this brutal economy there is now a different type of child support. This one involves teenagers looking for work in record numbers trying to help their parents make ends meet.” (CBS Sacramento) According to CBS Sacramento, there was the story of a girl named Melissa Zarate which said “she wanted to work because she was seeing that her mom was struggling. Daughter Melissa was also a tutor to her younger brother”. This teenager felt the urge to help around her house as much as she could. Melissa knew she had more potential and felt that her mother needed the extra help as well. There is the story of another teenager whose name is Derwin Galloway who says “he enjoys making money and sometimes helps buy groceries for his home; a responsibility he said he would need to know when he finally leaves his parents’ house.” (The Durham
