Have you ever heard of teen activists? They are very inspirational people. They are 13-19 year old girls and boys that see a problem and try to make it right. Also, they are passionate about advancing the cause for the ¨greater good.¨ It takes courage, passion and a plan to be like these people. In this essay I will be talking to you about Malala Yousafzai, Emily Rigel, and Faye Carey. They are three teen activists that took action and tried to help solve different problems for the ¨greater good¨. The first person I want to talk about is Malala Yousafzai. Malala stood up for girls to have education. Since she has been standing up for her cause, she has been conquering obstacles along the way. Emily Rigel stands up for people that are bullied. She does this because she was originally bullied herself. She was bullied so bad that she had to switch schools. Thankfully the bullying stopped for her and she had new friends but she knew there were still people out there that were being bullied and she wanted to stop all of it. After that she decided her goal would be to stop all forms of bullying. According to Reading Eagle.com she started to speak at many events in New York and made two new ways that she said would hopefully stop people from being affected by bullying worse than she was and eventually kill themselves. The ways are the Bully Button on Facebook and the fund WeStopHate. She also discovered DoSomething.org. She is hopeful that everything that she has done will stop bullying and people from commiting suicide. Will you be the next Emily Rigel in the world. Finally there is Faye Carey. She discovered pet abandonment and built up her passion to stand up for it. She volunteers at her local pet shelter that receives 20 pets a week . She now helps rehome dogs from there. She discovered a Facebook page that advertises pets and re-homes them. She has now re-homed about 60 dogs from the shelter. Even though she has to juggle all of the stuff she said, “ It is rewarding as well, so that makes it worthwhile.” She now has discovered Trade Me.com and advertizes pets on that website as well. The primary audience for the yellow, purple, and brown poster is for college students who either aged out of the foster care system or was adopted.
