Driving is usually begun at a young age. The age is usually around fourteen, where teens are supposed to get their driving permit. Then at the age of sixteen, teens are to get their operator’s license. Driving is one of the most exciting things for a lot of teens. It is a chance to finally have independence and show how responsible you can be. But, a lot of teens today, still do not know a lot about the rules of the road. Parents allow their teens to drive without a permit or license. This is a fact showing that those teens do not know everything about the road; it is illegal and very dangerous.

Texting and driving is very illegal and dangerous as well. It takes focus away from the road. Even if it is just to glance at the phone. Anything can happen within that very second. Today we see a lot of parents or adults texting or talking on the phone while driving. Teens might think that they will be able to do that. Or sometimes, they do it to just look cool and prove they can multitask.
Drinking and driving is another major cause to accidents. Statistics show that 17% of drivers aged 16-20 were involved in a fatal car accident and had an alcohol concentration of .08% or higher. 22% of teens had admitted they had ridden with a driver who was intoxicated. 10% have admitted to driving after drinking. Teens think it is all fun to party at a young age, but they don’t realize the consequences. Teens also think that just because they are not drunk, they can drive.
Teens today are constantly stopped and pulled over because of speeding. Teens sometimes do not care to look at the speedometer to watch their speed. Some also think they know how to control their vehicle while speeding. Statistics for this cause show that 35% of teen male drivers had been speeding and crashed. 25% had been speeding while intoxicated. Teens also get into the habit of not wearing seatbelts. Parents also rarely remind their teens to put on their seatbelts which is why they do not wear them when they
