Factors Schools Should Consider Before Using Technology in Instruction

There are several good reasons everyone argues that more and/or better technology be incorporated into our schools, but do they ever consider the arguments of why too much technology in school has a negative impact? They should be if not, i will present them today. Some factors schools should consider when it comes to technology is internet safety, teacher training,budget,distraction and overall the effect it has on younger generations mind.

One thing schools should ask themselves is how much is all this technology going to cost? For instance there is a high school called Empire High who has 340 students, all of those students are getting Ibooks by Apple Computer Inc(source A). Apple is known for being expensive and the screens being easily broken. Did the schools consider how much that would cost to buy and fix those devices? It seems every time you see a child with a technology based toy, they have a hard time learning how to be creative. Instead of being creative and creative stories, and learning through dolls, blocks and other non technology toys they electronic ones are showing telling them how to be creative, what to think, draw, act there are not learning it for themselves or their parents, teacher, even from other kids. Technology is doing to much for them. Will kids get so used to technology that if something went down for a period of time, would they be able to function with just a pen, paper and their imagination? Or would they panic and be fidgety, anxious and possible agitated because they have gotten so use to having technology in their fingertips? Just another factor that schools have to consider when pondering if more technology should be used in the school
