INTRODUCTION: Throughout the semester I volunteered at two different University of Miami Men’s tennis matches at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. I volunteered for three hours on February 2, 2018 when University of Miami hosted Georgia Southern for their home opener. The second event I volunteered for a total of five hours on February 11, 2018. On this date, UM played against two different opponents. First UM played against FAU at 11:00 A.M., then they competed against Bucknell University at 4:00 P.M. These matches were scheduled as non-conference games. Lastly, all three matches that I volunteered at resulted in victories.

The table was setup at the main gate of the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. All of the volunteers were asked to greet the spectators as they entered. We were also in charge of handing out as many giveaways as possible. The free giveaways are a critical marketing aspect. There is no doubt that when you have fun promotions and giveaways, kids leave the event with something to remember. Since all the giveaways were covered by the “U” logo, this creates and spreads the brand’s image. Not only are the fans getting free items, the University of Miami is also receiving benefits. As a sponsor they hope to see brand recognition which helps increase their revenues exponentially. Promotions and giveaways also induce fans to come back again, which would help increase game day attendance. In regards to the Category 5 promotion, students were well aware of this giveaway because it was promoted on the Category 5 Facebook page. Unfortunately not enough people attended the game and therefore it was a struggle for us to give away the Jimmy John Sandwiches. Fan turnout was extremely low and most of the people that attended the tennis matches were family members or friends. I think Category 5 and the marketing team should use some experiential marketing to see what will cause more students to attend and support the University of Miami tennis program. My recommendations for tailgating would be all in the advertisement, CCU could make flyers that advertise for people to come out and tailgate before the games. Also regarding tailgating, advertise at local restaurants that they will be attending our tailgates, or even bring in more restaurants and local food places to come to the game and sell their food. There’s nothing wrong with having more food available at tailgates. My recommendations for the fan aspect of games and tailgates would be to do more fun things for the reserved tailgating they seem to be more on their own than anything, whereas if CCU put games or food by them it could make it more fun. Also, for fans CCU could make it rewarding and if they came to a certain amount of home games they could win a free Coastal football shirt or something.
My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. Together, we are tasked with the mission to complete a stakeholder analysis regarding a specific organization and their structure. For this project to be completed successfully, it is important that all team members are able to cooperate with one another and are able to use their different strengths to create the best end product.

There are five main goals or objectives for the USTA organization to become better. The first goal is to increase participation in tennis so as to achieve the Vision. Increase USTA membership, make multicultural participation, and develop tennis programs accesible at all levels. The second goal is to build upon success at the US Open. Use the US Open as a promotional tool for the sport and help Americans reach the highest level of professional tennis. The third goal is to market tennis to the playing and non-tennis playing public. Enhance public awarness and perception of tennis and the image of the USTA. Provide educational materials and technical resources, and other tennis information to the tennis community.

In 1958, Ashe played his first ever integrated tennis competition under Johnson, the tournament was called the Maryland boy’s championships, Ashe was also the first ever black person to compete in this competition. This was a huge turning point in Ashe’s career but also an important step forward in his goal to achieve racial equality, he began to realise that he was viewed as just as an important and skilled sportsman as his fellow white competitors. I have been selected to organize an event by a local sorority to put on a three on three basketball tournament in which all proceeds will go towards a child in the Make A Wish Foundation. The tournament is limited to college students, we would like to invite other community members to join in on the tournament. The tournament will take place in the middle of the spring semester. The tournament will start at 4pm and we expect to wrap up by 8pm. There will be two sessions for maximum speaking times with a break for dinner in between. We have vending machines for drinks and snacks, but students should bring their own dinner or money to get dinner on their own. Dairy Queen is down the street, a coffee house 2 blocks away (Ava) and there is a Vietnamese sandwich shop across the street.
One the event has concluded, any food left is donated to a local homeless shelter and all monies are donated to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The money donated are used to treat children with orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, arthritic and neurological disorders, including learning disorders. Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. By fairness I mean allowing everyone the chance to do something. This group project taught me the ability to be a team player. This is a skill needed to be successful in a group. After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team-setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experiences and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project.
The day’s events begin around 10 o’clock a.m. when most adolescents make their way from their beds to their bathrooms. After showering and dressing in the customary cut-off T-shirt and swim trunks (most often shorts adorned with flowered designs), teens start their cars and head off to the Laudermilk Park, about a thirty-minute drive. Around eleven o’clock, the parking lots become filled, and volleyballs begin flying through the air. Before long, teams of twos and fives take over the courts and begin to play. Onlookers get quite a show.
TEAMWORK The teamwork is usually defined as the process of working together in a group to achieve a common goal. These days, working in groups is inevitable. Whether it is a school assignment or working in a clinical setting, we have to work in groups to accomplish a task. We cannot expect to work in isolation all the time. As far as our team is concerned, they worked in an organised manner to accomplish the task within the deadline.
Effective teams work to establish common goals. These goals are usually the drivers of an effective team when all of the participants are communicating to develop the goals they would all like to achieve. In business, this can be seen when groups set a sales goal and develop a plan of action to achieve this goal. Individuals empowered to approach a goal with their interests in mind as well as the interest of the whole group.
