The Tale of Two Cities is a classic tale of two cities with unique morals. This tale shows various themes which contained revolution and resurrection. It showed the best and worst of times in London and Paris. In this particular time, sacrifice was necessary. In fact most cases ended in life or death. Resurrection is the main, overall theme of this novel. This book shows many times people sacrificing themselves for the sins of others much like Christ. Which is amazing cause even though the ‘older’ times were ‘harder’ some people were willing to sacrifice, their completely innocent selves for those that sinned. Throughout his career he published a total of fifteen novels. He published Tale of Two Cities in 1859. Charles was the second of eight. He and his family grew up poor even though both his parents dreamed of becoming rich. His father, John, in 1842 was sent to prison because he dangerously lived beyond what he could afford and accrued a lot of debt. Because of this Charles was forced to leave school and work to help support his family. Dickens saw this as the moment he said goodbye to his innocence. Charles often felt abandoned by the adults who were supposed to take care of him. Later in life he had a total of ten children with his wife, Catherine Hogarth. During the 1850s, Charles mourned through not one but two devastating losses, his father and daughter. Dickens died of a stroke at the age fifty-eight. Although he died his work never did. Tale of two cities is takes place in 1775. There are many characters in this tale. Sydney carton, a london lawyer once had a chance at a future in law but threw herself into a lifestyle of alcoholism and vice. Jerry Cruncher, resurrection man and works at Tellson’s Bank.
