Synopsis

In the novel, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Thomas the Protagonist is stuck in a giant labyrinth set in the beginning of the book and faces many obstacles throughout the book. During the Exposition, Thomas awakes in a dark metal box, which he thinks is an elevator, but has no memory of why he is in there, and how he got in there. After hours in the elevator it finally open up and Thomas see’s boys laughing and taunting at him. In the Narrative hook, Thomas gets out of the elevator and is introduced to the others. Thomas, who is still confused in where he is meets the leaders Alby and Newt. They tell him that they were put into a large maze with large walls called the Glade, and have been surviving there for years. Also, Thomas understands that there memory has been erased when they arrived at the glade. Having little time to understand what is going on Thomas must fit into their lifestyle, therefore he is introduced to one of the boys in the Labyrinth named …show more content…

As they walk through they see tinted windows with men inside and realize that they are the people who put them inside the Glade, the creators. When they find the door to the men they see them standing there analyzing how they escaped the Glade. But before they could take notice they find themselves looking at a boy standing there, who was from the Glade and presumed was dead. While everyone was in shock that the boy was alive, he threw a dagger at Thomas’s chest, but Chuck was able to sacrifice himself in order to save Thomas. Thomas bursting into anger screamed, “I promised him!" he screamed, realizing even as he did so that his voice was laced with something wrong. Almost insanity.
