While incarcerated in the Birmingham jail in Alabama, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leading civil rights activist, took it upon himself to conduct a letter that explains the motivation behind his actions. King has been imprisoned due to civil disobedience, and heard about a letter from clergyman criticizing his work. King then writes the letter addressing the clergyman, the letter is sent to the clergyman making them the audience.
