Do you know who Stephen King really is? People would say he’s an author who likes to write horror stories, but I think he is one of the best known authors. With a numerous amount of books and some of them becoming movies, I think he is a mysterious and creative author to know about.

Stephen King was born on September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine. (MacNee 1). His parents separated when King was a toddler. Him and his older brother David, were raised by his mother. Parts of his childhood were complicated. He spent parts of his childhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana where his father was and some of his time in Stratford Connecticut. But when Stephen was eleven, his mother brought him and David back to Durham Maine. That’s where he stayed. In January of 1971, Stephen King married Tabitha Spruce. They met in the stacks in a library at the University of Maine. King and Tabitha have three kids: Joe, Naomi and Owen. …show more content…

King went to college at the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1970. While in college, during his sophomore year, he wrote a weekly column for the school newspaper. After he graduated he was qualified to teach at a High School level. King began his writing at the age of seven. Slowly putting his first story together. When Stephen King was twelve he submitted his own short stories, with no success of them being accepted. During High School, he published a story in the school newspaper called “The Village Vomit” which had insults aimed at his teachers. The story offered him a job writing sports

Over the years, as millions of people have watched horror movies the graphics, special effects, and sounds have changed for the better. King includes examples of reasons people continue to go, he says it’s to have fun, to dare the nightmare, and to re-establish our sense of normalcy. Kings arguments within this essay are strong enough to prove his thesis making this a well written essay. He easily convinces normal people that they are mentally ill, with his use of analogy’s, comparisons, and logos. Stephen King’s use of practical wisdom leads his audience to believe that without horror films, humans are all emotional ticking time bombs waiting to explode.
