The past two years have been the most meaningful two years of my life. Coming to Syracuse University has really had an unbelievable impact on me. I’ve met so many different people and I truly have enjoyed everything along the way. However, the School of Information Studies has given me so many tools to succeed and I seriously cannot thank the people who have helped me. Whether it has been the classes, the relationships I’ve created, or the immersion road trip experiences I was fortunately enough to go on, I have continuously learned more about myself. Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change world.” My goals for going to West Texas A&M is getting the necessary skills and getting the education necessary to become a radiologist. West Texas A&M home of the Buffaloes is publically known for their excellent nursing classes and will provide me with the necessary skills for successful future in Radiology.
As a future Grand Canyon University student, it is highly important to me to be included in the honors college on campus. As a science major, I will have the opportunity to join the Honors STEMists club where I will be able to find other students who enjoy the various stem fields which I look forward to. The ability to room and be around other honors college members will definately help me become accustomed to college life. I do thoroughly apply myself as a student and a citizen both inside and outside of the classroom. I plan to study forensic science at GCU and hope to keep myself heavily involved around campus through clubs, intramural activities amongst other opportunities provided to me. This program interests me mainly because the challenge that it will provide me with for many years to come. I also enjoy all science courses, but chemistry is the one that is most fond to me. Forensics is a heavy workload of chemistry, which was my favorite subject in school.
Along with my former eighth grade classmates, expectations were hesitant, uncertain, and frightened. To my surprise, I quickly grew comfortable, social, and began to support others to get through the tough transition. Being myself and discovering the good in the experience allowed me to help them navigate through the stressful change. Therefore, the main reason I chose this program is because the staff and students here knows our struggle. They understand it. They know that college is expensive. They know that we need help academically and financially. As a student enlisted in the Early College High School program, it is essential that I know what my academic journey has in store for me, and the resolutions to the milestones that coincide along with my expedition throughout college and life overall. My mission is to become a successful and credible Forensic scientist alongside making an impact in the criminal justice system. In order to maintain an adequate lifestyle, I must create goals that reflect my academic and career needs including; getting through my first two years at Early College High School, graduating with a degree and placement in the high percentile range, and carrying out my profession in a laboratory.
I have been given an awesome privilege to be able to call Hope College my home for the last four years. The memories I have had here will last a lifetime. From the friends I have developed with professors, students, to Phelps and Cook employees. I can honestly say that there has not been a bad experience with any of these people. It’s been awesome here at Hope! This experience has taught me many different life lessons and helped mold the legacy in which I feel I will leave behind when I am done. The legacy I want to leave behind entails one of respect, and hard working. I will tie all of these together will explicit examples from here at Hope and will end with how I plan to finish up on a positive note.
Like majority of my class, I came into Terry High School a wide-eyed freshman ready for an adventure. Being at Terry has opened my eyes and allowed me to have many different experiences. While I have experienced a few setbacks along the way, my time in high school has led to countless successes. During my tenure here, I have grown not only in my quest for knowledge, but also in the way that I handle everyday situations and life in general.
Admission to Ryerson School of Interior Design has been a vision for me since before high school. Capturing what you are passionate about in life and what fulfills you both personally and professionally has always been my goal. Throughout my young life, I have been fascinated by visual stimulus, from architectural structures, museums, home décor shows/blogs/magazines/stores, I knew that I wanted to contribute to this industry. In planning the next step from high school, I applied to Universities that seemed to fit what I was supposed to do, and an amazing opportunity came my way to live in Paris for a year, go to school and work as an International model. Now, I am ready to execute the next step and follow what I know I want and what I will
Today, as we graduate, with degree nearly in hand, I challenge each of you to make a difference in whatever you do. Remember that life didn't end when we re-entered school. Life continued throughout our program. Even when stretched to the limit, life only got more challenging. And now, graduating, life only changes pace. Our degree completion is not really an ending as much as a new beginning as we re-enter our lives of work and home. We thank all of our family, friends, instructors and co-workers who helped see us through this process. Thank you for this opportunity and good luck to you all.
Let’s flash back in time to before our college days. Back to then we had lunch trays filled with rubbery chicken nuggets, stale pizza, and bags of chocolate milk. A backpack stacked with Lisa Frank note books, flexi rulers, and color changing pencils. The times where we thought we wouldn’t make it out alive, but we did. Through all the trials and tribulations school helped build who I am today and shaped my future. From basic functions all the way to life-long lessons that helped shape my character.
I want to apply to college track because I need some tutoring in math and physics, I also want to be able to be prepared for the ACT Test. I also want to be sure that I have a high eligibility for college when I apply for a college. I want to improve my social skills and overcome obstacles that might come on my way. I would also like to have support when I'm applying for a college or when I'm in College. I'm applying to college track to help me keep my GPA up and to have support when I'm having troubles in my classes. If I got accepted to the program I would benefit by taking advantage of the tutoring that is offered to me, it can benefit me by becoming more socially active with others than just keeping to myself, helping out with all the kids
I love changes and challenges because they stimulate me to advance and evolve. As an immigrant, I enjoy discovering new things and have overcome many problems. As the first generation college student, I take honor courses, maximize my workload, and participate in academic competitions. I firmly believe that it is vital for individuals to be able to adapt new enviornment and overcome challenges. I look forward to transferring to a four-year university toenjor a more academically competitive enviornment and participate in scientific research projects.
Another successful choice I have made for myself during this stage of life is that I have set my goal for myself of what I need to accomplish which is getting my masters degree in science and becoming a Respiratory Therapist in order to do that I have started my schooling at Oakton Community College to earn my associate's degree. After that I will be transferring to DePaul University to pursue my master’s degree and end my college journey. In order to be successful in this stage and not in the role of confusion one needs to take all the steps that Erikson has developed for this stage of psychosocial development. Through these fun and challenging times each one of us has built strong relationships. Whether it was with friends or a teacher, we have developed connections and memories that will be with us forever, even if we lose contact with those individuals. Some students have discovered they have a passion for writing through a creative writing class or want to have a career in business from taking Mr. Ide’s inspirational marketing classes. Others have participated in CLIP or summer school to catch up and make it possible for them to be here today. I went to Heights Elementary and have spent the last 12 years with the same group of people. Attending school with the people I’ve known since elementary and middle school, and making homecoming posters with them for four years in a row, has given me a chance to get to know the people around me better than I ever thought I would.
For the past 13 years of our education we have been on a journey - a journey full of experiences, challenges and accomplishments. We have made it through elementary, middle and high school. It hasn't always been what we expected and certainly not easy, but as we progressed down the road, we stretched ourselves to reach across barriers and found ourselves in new and expanding roles. We were given the opportunity to explore our interests and discover what really excites us. We have become more independent and complete individuals. Our growth and self-discovery has placed us here tonight.
