Starbucks Organization’s Goals Chapter 5

Starbucks had several goals that they have and will be implementing over the next few years. They were so many that I had to choose just a few of them, but I must say that they are very impressive.
Starbucks has several long-range goals that are set at the top of each year, and they are diligent, and confident that those goals will happen by 2015. They want to ensure 100% of their coffee is ethically sourced, invest in farmers and their communities by increasing farmer loans to $20 million by 2015. They also would like to improve farmer’s access to carbon markets; by helping them generate an additional income while improving and protecting the environment. They have a sense of commitment to the environment and neighborhoods, which I think is impeccable. Starbucks would also like to involve their employees and customers with community goals. They have a goal to mobilize their partners (employees) and customers to contribute 1 million hours of community service per year by 2015.
Chapter 5 talks about planning, and that choosing a goal and developing a method is strategic to achieving goals. I think that Starbucks has a clear understanding of those goals going forward.
Starbuck’s goals also include engaging 50,000 young people to innovate and take action in their communities. One of the goals that they have achieved was to develop comprehensive recycling solutions for their paper and plastic cups. In addition they would like to serve 5 percent of beverages made in the Starbucks stores in personal tumblers also by 2015. This to me was so impressive, they would like to reduce energy consumption by 25% in their company-owned stores by 2015. Starbucks has and will continue to achieve great goa...
