Star Wars episode four also known as the “A New Hope”, was written and directed by George Lucas and released in 1977. I have seen this film multiple times and every single time that I screen it, I find myself discovering an aspect of the film that I did not see the pervious time and I find that I enjoy the film more and more each time I see it.

Not only did I screen Star Wars, “A New Hope”, I also read the one of the many books that were written about the film. The text was called, “BFI Classics: Star Wars” which was written by Will Brooker. In the text, Brooker discusses many key ideas he has about the film.

The other type of edit or editing and film making technique that Lucas is quite a fan or an uses repeatedly is method of not placing the camera below the 180 degree line meaning Lucas always kept the camera at eye level with the actor. A perfect example of this that can be seen in Star Wars Episode 4 “A New Hope” is when Leia is talking to Darth Vader after she is taken prisoner by the storm troopers, the entire conversation is shown at eye level and never is shot from lower or higher than that giving the scene a more personal feel.

In addition to consulting the BFI book on the film, Star Wars “A New Hope”, I also explored the concepts that were presented in the book by Joseph Campbell entitled, “The Hero with A Thousand Faces.” In his book, Campbell discusses what he refers to as the Adventure of the Hero, and within that category Campbell discusses many elements that he feels makes up the Adventure of the
