Sociological Imagination is a termed that was created by C. Wright Mills. This phrase means asking and answering questions in ones mind. Our textbook gives a great example of sociological imagination. When a Caucasian person entering college is denied admissions, this person questions why? Thinking of all possible reasoning, one conclusion was - minorities. Is the college accepting more minorities than whites? That must be the reason I was not accepted. When in actuality there were probably far less minority students than Caucasian who were accepted. This thought coming to the student was invalid and untrue but the thought of a minority being chosen over one Caucasian student was placed in their mind by TV, media, and maybe conversation.
