Social Class Groups were categorized by their level of wealth, occupation and family history. Elizabethan based their people upon the divine order, known as the Great Chain of being, which accommodated everything in the whole universe. Six social classes in the Elizabethan Era : Monarch, Nobility, Gentry, Merchants, Yeomen, and Laborers. Monarch- This class is determined mostly by family with the oldest child usually taking the throne; the most powerful and highest class. Nobility- A high class that were powerful and rich either by being born a noble or by being recognized by a monarch. The noble families were split up into two religions; Catholics and Protestants.
