Silent Generation Those born before 1943 are referred as silent generations or veterans. They are also called traditionalist. The people of this generation grew up during World War II and great depression era where they were the part of the fight or were the children at that time. Patriotism, hard work, team effort and dedication defines this generation. They are also the first true innovators of many vaccines for deadly disease like tetanus, polio, tuberculosis etc. Some calls them as the wealthiest generation .In today’s world, silent generation are majority who are retired and mostly seen during the time of voting. Social issues: During the World War II there were so much disruptions that the values of this generation was greatly affected by this. As they took part in the wars the behavior of this generation’s people were influenced by their own experience. Men mostly worked whereas women were the homemaker raising their little ones. Economic: In the year 1929 U.S Stock Market crashed and the following year worldwide depression was seen. Great depression was the time when America suffered a huge downturn in the economy where silent generation suffered tremendously. Many American citizens lost their homes, properties and above all more the 24 % were unemployed. But World War II played an important role in the economic recovery as new industries were built, employment rate increased and development were made. Political: Baby boomers: The generation who are born between the year 1940 and 1960 falls under this generation. This generation was born during a spike in child birth after World War II. Silent generations are very loyal to their employers and they expect the same in return. They possess superb interpersonal skills and enjoy flexible arrangement to match their schedule. As they are very hardworking generation, they do believe in promotion and raises. Time and discipline are the two important factor. Due to the participation in World War II they have a very strict regimen. They believe in duty before fun. Baby boomer: for baby boomer work ethic is measured in hours they have worked. They believe in teamwork and considers success as the part of the teamwork. At work, this generation mainly focuses on building relationship and expect the loyalty from those they work with.
