Introduction

With all of the research and arguments flying around like birds about music in schools and music raising a student’s IQ, there is a question that needs to be answered. Should music classes be required in all schools worldwide? Students who take music classes at schools that have them are generally more smarter and typically enjoy school more than students at a schools that don’t have music. Almost everyone loves music and because music research has been found and shown to help students in more ways than one, it is definitely something that should be required in schools. Music is disappearing from schools year after year Oakes 5 even though it has shown and been proved to help students when it comes to education. That is why the purpose of this research survey was to find out what scholars thought about music in schools and whether they believe music should be required in schools or not. The Method that was used to complete the survey was Twitter. Twitter is one of the main communities where students are able to interact with each other easily. Also, because of how easy it is to survey students there due to the poll system, that was also a factor that was taken into account when choosing a site to survey scholars on.
The Goal for this survey was to find 100 students and ask them the question of whether or not they believe music should be a required class. Afterwards a huge discussion was to be held about the question to get the opinions out of the students. Lots of good points were made.

So far the study has shown that students enjoy music, It allows for the free expression of what a scholar is feeling on the inside. feelings on the
Oakes 7 inside are then voiced and heard through the music that is created. That is what is allowed to take place in the music classes at schools that have them. It has also been stated that Students think music should be required in schools because it is believed other students should experience this feeling as well. Not only does music make school enjoyable but studies have shown that it also increases the IQ of students overtime.
Increasing a scholar’s IQ overtime is something that is magnificent not to mention that while a student’s IQ is increasing so are the skills that are needed for Math and English comprehension. If those skills are applied and enhanced then not only will core classes like Math and English be easier but it would also show an increase in test scores. After the survey was conducted It was found that lots of students enjoyed music classes and believed it should be a requirement. One student from the twitter survey said “Music is the life I live, I wake up everyday ready for the music classes at my high school.” Another said “My stress has really gone down due to me making raps and instrumentals, it is a real stress reliever.” As it is shown music is something
