"Should the government have the absolute power to both see what I research and create on the internet? The following question has been under the spotlight of debate for quite some time. Through the examination present day predicaments, I will build a case for why the government should have absolute power.
The government watching what is posted and researched can help prevent disaster and save human lives. From personal experience, a fellow classmate of mine once wrote ‚ÄúDo NOT come to school April 5 *insert gun emoji*.‚Äù The message was sent ‚Äúanonymously‚Äù, or so he thought. If it were not for the government examining online websites, the situation may not have been dealt with before April 5. The classmate went on to say it was all but a joke, but what if it had not? How many high school students could have been injured or even worse killed that day? By allowing the government to do such a thorough search on and to monitor these sites, we save lives. …show more content…

“We were able to find the culprit by looking into his past Google searches..,” stated my local police officer on WLOX News. A man had kidnapped his daughter with no idea where he went. The local government then went into his apartment and was able to see his recent searches which included the names of hotels in the area. After sending squad cars to each of the looked up hotels, they found the culprit and returned the daughter to her mother. If the government could not monitor what we research it may have not have ended so well for that young girl. There are thousands of cases like the one I just detailed, and if we take away the governments right to monitor many of those stories will have no happy
