We all want to believe that there is only good in this world because that is easier than to look at the true evil that lives among us. According to one of the most famous FBI agents and former chief of the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit, John Douglas, in the United States there is on average 25 to 50 active serial killers. Sexual Serial killers are killers that typically rape and torcher their victims before actually killing them. Some of the most famous once are the names of Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy and who could forget Jeffrey Dahmer who not only raped and killed his victims but he also ate and kept their body parts in his apartment. P. Morana showed that 86% of serial killers fell into the category of a psychopath. Only 9% of them had some but not enough to be categorized as a psychopath. The study also showed that 93% of the psychopaths also showed sadistic disorder. People with sadistic disorder tend to be people who were victims in the past and now tend to do the same things they went through to other people. Serial killers can also be affected with this disorder and not have been abused as children but the reasoning behind this is not really known. “Among the most sadistic serial killers, there are various who experienced great violence and humiliation at the hands of one or both parents” and even though some don’t experience this abuse the majority of the killers do. We want to be safe or at least not even think about the chance that a killer could be lurking in the same streets that yo use every day. There is a chance that we have walked by a killer already but not until it’s too late and we find out it truly terrifies us. John Wayne Gacy was a man who raped and killed boys in Illinois. The total death number is more than 30. Gacy has typical characteristics that a serial killer had and also had similar childhood problems that a typical serial killer has had. In this article it doesn’t just deal with Gacy but with the people of Illinois. Their thought process of what was going on in their own backyard.
