Learner may also use poverty as one of the reasons why they drop out of school. When students feel that their parents are unable to afford most of their needs for schooling. When students are in need of school uniforms, lunch money and stationary that is required at the school for them to perform better perform at the top of their potential they feel alone and feel that education will not get them anywhere in life. If there is no one that is successful in the family a child may feel no need to try an go on with something that has not worked for anyone in the family in this way the is no motivation.

Female students may discontinue going to school because they feel the pressure of school, having to cope with the pressure of managing being a mother and simultaneously being a student. Having to deal with a the work load of parenting and of being a learner female students seem to think it is easier to just forget about school and that makes the school dropouts. Although the majority of this factor is faced by female students, it also affects male students when they have to find jobs to provide for their family. They start by finding temporary jobs and then they see that the job doesn't cover their needs either, then end up finding permanent jobs in order to provide for the family and if they work permanent jobs they will not be able to cope with the load of school work and at the same time be breadwinners. Sometimes they female students are kicked out of the house by their parents because they are considered as a disgrace in the family and as a disappointment to their parents face especially in the African traditional worldview. Pregnancy doesn't justify learner dropping out of school, though because they can be taken care of by social grant money and social worker help people in need of finance to manage their families. Furthermore, little discussion has addressed the reasons female students give for leaving school prematurely. Female students use pregnancy as a reason as to why they withdraw themselves from completing their education, whether she is also pregnant at the time she leaves school is less important. Female students may discontinue their studies because of factors that include financial issues, family obligations, or a lack of interest in school, a pregnancy may serve a way to speed up the timing of school
