School Dress Codes

In most high schools these days there is some form of dress code implemented for students. These dress codes commonly include the length of shorts, making sure the length comes past the finger tips for girls and no hats or baggy pants for boys. The schools say the dress codes help teach students how to dress modestly in preparation for moving into the workforce. I can say I was surprised when my daughter came home from school recently to tell me the dress code had changed banning both leggings and yoga pants. I feel that this is the school’s way of justifying the dress code to parents. I understand there are rules put in place for one reason or another and we are made to feel that we need to follow them. This is one rule I cannot support. The rule is not in place because girls are showing to much skin, but because you can see the shape of their figure. Girls should not be made to feel ashamed of the way they are or made to cover up in a way that gives them self-esteem issues about their
