Rudy Introduction Rudy is a 1993 box office movie by director David Anspaugh with the core aim of depicting the real-life story and times of Rudy Ruettiger. He is not particularly fond of violent acts and prefers to keep his thoughts to himself most of the time, unless he is provoked. One such instance was the brawl in the bar between his best friend Pete and his brother when Pete tries to defends Rudy’s principles and beliefs. In the confrontation, Rudy decides to get involved against his brother when he lays his hands on Pete. Consequently, bystanders had to get involved to prevent an escalation of the matter and the three men were then parted with Pete later mentioning that he did not need Rudy’s involvement in the fight. In this instance, Rudy appears as a defensive person and expressly stands for his close friends although against family members. Therefore, not only is he bold and confident in facing his brother, he is also kind and loving to his best friend when he decides to fight against their common foe. Nevertheless, following the death of his best friend, Rudy does not get consumed in agony and mourning the loss, he proactively decides to fulfil his best friend’s wishes for him. Running onto the Notre Dame football field, as the fans yell from the stands, “Ru-dy! Ru-dy! I am a ru-dy! Ru-dy!” is all Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger dreamt about. At the beginning of the movie Rudy, Rudy told his father, “After high school, I’m gonna play football at Notre Dame.”
He travels to South Bend, the town Notre Dame is in, and applies to Notre Dame but is not accepted initially. With the counsel of Father Cavanaugh Rudy enrolls at a local junior college where he works to achieve grades that will facilitate admission to Notre Dame. While studying at Holy Cross Junior College, Rudy befriends a local tutor, who helps Rudy discover he is dyslexic. Rudy is able to use his new diagnosis to improve his scholastic aptitude; however he has not yet earned his families respect, losing his fiancé to one of his brothers. Rudy befriends a groundskeeper at Notre Dame who eventually provides Rudy with somewhere to live while continuing to study at Holy Cross. After finally gaining admission to Notre Dame, Rudy walks onto the football team, is given a place on the practice squad, and again warned by a coach of the difficulty of playing for Notre Dame. Thirdly, Rudy had to talk to the priest there about how he can get into Notre Dame. The priest told him that he should go to Holy Cross first and achieve good marks.
