Ruby Bridges was a young African American girl who faced many hardships. Ruby was the first ever African American to go to an all white school in New Orleans in 1966. A brave young girl in order to go to school was escorted by the U.S. marshals. Demonstrated bravery even though she was ostracized, threatened, and surrounded. First, Ruby was ostracized by students at her school they would bully her and call her names. African americans were already treated badly but she was the only one at the school of whites. Abon Bridges (Ruby's father) was fired from his job because his boss did want to have the father of the black girl going to the school of whites to work for him.
