Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. It is about a couple (Romeo and Juliet) who fall in love at first sight but later discover that their families are rivals. Because of this they get married in secret. Not knowing that Juliet is already married, her family tries to force her to marry another man named Paris, so she drinks a potion that makes her seem to be dead. When Romeo finds her to appear dead, he drinks poison and dies next to her. The moment that Juliet wakes up she sees Romeo's body and stabs herself in desperation. At the end of the story, the two families realize that their feud has caused so many deaths for no reason and thus decide to end their rivalry. The theme of the story is that when hate is directed towards others, it harms the person who is hateful and those who are close to that person. …show more content…

This causes a sword fight to break out between them. At the end of the fight, Tybalt kills Mercutio with a fatal stab. This was a great shock for everyone who was present. Having seen his best friend die in front of him, Romeo draws his sword and kills Tybalt. Because Tybalt decided to kill Mercutio, he not only got himself killed but also strengthened the feud between the Montague and Capulet families and set in motion a cycle of deaths to come. Because Romeo's hatred led to the murder of Tybalt, he was banished from the city of Verona by the prince. This causes his wife, Juliet to suffer. She experiences mixed emotions because the person the loved so much, not only turned out to be a killer, but also killed her cousin. Even though she is sad about her cousins death, she is even more terrified by the banishment of her husband Romeo since she adores him so much. By killing Tybalt, Romeo didn't only manage to be exiled but also harmed the one he loves
