Ye who trespass against the famous Robin Hood will surely pay the price. Ye who take money from the poor for thy own greedy hands will have it taken away from thee. Ye who want Robin Hood for a prize will soon want to join his band of Merry Men. During Robin Hoods time, there was a lot of corruption of the church and the government. Therefore, the bandit Robin Hood felt as though it was his duty to steal from thee who had too much and give to thee that had too little. The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle describes Robin Hood is a courageous, mischievous, honorable man. Robin is always one step ahead, never allowing the Sheriff of Nottinghamshire to get close to Robin Hood and his band. And mocking the Sheriff in a way that would hurt a man’s pride. For example, when Little John brought home the Sheriff to the Merry Men fort to have dinner with the band, (pg.74-76). The book described the Sheriff a a prideful man. However, when he was presented with a surprise such as this he was scared and frightened. Robin Hood has a way of letting people think he is one way and then be opposite like when he fought Guy of Gasbourne. Robin Hood led Guy to believe he was gay, naive, annoying man. However, Robin turned out to be an excellent fighter, smart speaker, and manipulative man, pg. 255-269. Yes, Robin may do things for a wonderful cause, but may have a horrible way of going about it, for example; stealing. The Bible does say ‘’though shall not steal’’. Yet he steals, we all do. Yet that does not diminish his character, throughout this book he shows his character which is a courageous, a mischievous, and an honorable man. These actions that Robin Hood did persuades one to believe that Robin Hood a villain in disguise. With the purpose Robin Hood had in mind, what would you do if the world around you was corrupt and hurting innocent people by taking away their resources and way of life? Would you watch their life crumble or would you stand up for those you care about like Robin
