In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the death of these “two star-crossed lovers” is caused by the feud between their families. Because of the feud between the Montague and Capulet families Romeo kills Tybalt, Juliet’s dad doesn’t know about her marriage with Romeo so he arranges for her to get married, and Romeo and Paris are both in love with Juliet. For these reasons, the rivalry between the two families lead to death and conflict.
In the tragedy, Romeo is forced to kill his cousin in-law, Tybalt, out of revenge for Mercutio. Romeo genuinely did not want to harm Tybalt when the conflict begun, he repeatedly tried to make peace with the situation. “Make haste, lest mine be about your ears ere it be out.”(Shakespeare, 820) Mercutio
