Muslims obey the religious obligation of zakat because it is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslim fulfils their duty in preserving common good by paying zakat, giving the needy and so forth simply because he or she is the servant of Allah s.w.t. Zakat has a number of objectives. The first is the purification of one’s wealth. Payment of zakat is a divinely ordained method to cleanse one’s heart and soul from greed and obsession for material wealth. This enhances one’s love for Allah (s.w.t.) making one an obedient servant to Him. Payment of zakat is an expression of caring for the welfare of the less fortunate members of society. It cannot however be regarded as an act of charity per se because a portion of one’s wealth is the right of the poor and the needy (Mohamed, 1991).
Kamil et al . (1997 ) states that compliance attitude is important in determining obedience to pay zakat . If there is not compliant attitude in them then the individual will not pay zakat . Aidit (1998 ) also sets out to solve the problem of paying zakat depends on the level of faith and awareness of the individual. Weak level of faith has to do with the attitude of not wanting to pay the zakat , especially in the absence of strict act thereon. One may fear and be compliant if the acts and regulations as it will pay taxes because of the tax act . Qaradawi (1998) also explained in this case that the factor faith important in determining the economic action. Responsibility religion associated with the property must be supported by a factor faith because without faith it is not possible. If This notion is the case then the individual will compare zakat obligations with the tax burden.

In order to reduce the administration problems, certain states such as Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka and Pahang have outsourced this task to centers for Zakat Collection (PPZ). These centers are an independent department of the respective state religious department that operates based on the commercial and professional basis. Interestingly, under the management of PPZs, the collection of zakat in the four states mentioned has increased tremendously. Hairunnizam et. al, and Kamil (2005),other organizational factors such as zakat promotional campaign, perceived zakat service quality and salary deduction mechanism were found to influence significantly Muslims in paying zakat. also shows that the efficiency of managing the institution of zakat is not significantly influenced by the payment of zakat .
Islam is a religion that most Americans don’t understand but still have strong feelings towards. To clear things up, Islam is a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion written in the Qur'an, a book considered by its believers to be the exact word of God. They also consider it to be the last prophet of God through the teachings and the example of Muhammad. They refer to their god as Allah. The basis of Islamic life is centered on Allah, whom must be submitted to and served. They believe that the previous messages and revelations have been partially misinterpreted or altered over time with evolving cultures and translating languages, but consider the Arabic Qur'an to be the unaltered and final revelation of Allah. The religion is practiced with the five pillars of Islam, which are basic concepts and required acts of worship. The first is, testifying to God's One-ness: The declaration "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is His prophet." The second is, Prayer. Prayer must happen at least five times a day, and must be done by bowing and facing towards the Mecca. Also, everyone must stand in straight lines and if women do come, however not required, must stand behind the men. The third is, giving charity. 2.5% of annual income is generall...
The iconic set of rules that Islam follows are the Five Pillars of Islam. They are a set of rules that are expected of all Muslims, or followers of Islam, in order to achieve eternal glorification. Some of the pillars include the Shahada which is the confession that Allah is the one true God and Muhammad is his trusted prophet, the Salat which are prayers said five times a day facing Mecca, the Zakat which is the giving of alms, the Shawm which is a fast during Ramadan, and the Hajj which is a pilgrimage that all Muslims, that are able, must take to Mecca. The sacred text that Muslims follow is titled the Quran. The Quran consists of teachings that Muhammad wrote while being divinely inspired by Allah.
Along with inheriting the responsibilities of running Al Qaeda, Zawahiri inherited the problem of dealing with the difficult main Iraqi branch of Al Qaeda, ISI. ISI had a reputation of being problematic and disobedient. The group utilized Al Qaeda’s name and finances to carry out rogue acts without the permission of Al Qaeda leaders. When Osama and central command would plea for closer communication with the group, ISI would ignore them and operate however they pleased. Al Qaeda’s tolerance of the branch’s disobedience wore thin with the unauthorized appointment of a new ISI leader: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Al Qaeda had no prior knowledge to who this was, what he stood for, or where he came from (Malik).
A decent number of people find it easy to consider poverty as ‘will of God, ' therefore, absolving themselves of any blame for the miseries created by the poor conditions in the society. In regard, they also draw one’s attention to several references in the Holy Bible to make their point. Likewise, there are some people, who highlight the importance of charity and spending on the poor people to alleviate poverty. Nearly all the Muslim societies have many believers affirm that poverty cannot prevail if all wealthy Muslims just paid their Zakat regularly. Some people even believes in going to the extent of claiming that the implementation of the Islamic system of Zakat would bring so many resources that the nation would not need to apply any other tax to manage its affairs. However, such claims cannot be supported by some research or reliable data. Away from the will of God scenario, corruption is one of the leading causes of poverty. Even more, all countries have corruption, even affluent governments. Corruption does not negate all that is right or explain all that is bad. There are some nations have corruption extensive, painful as it is, according to “Corruption Is Just a Symptom.” in Wall Street
...r something that has its source from Islam in their government. It can be seen from recent mosque protests that, even a place of worship comes to instill the fear of the sharia in people’s minds. Whereas sharia is something very complex and not a monolithic canon of law (it’s very flexible)—and most countries that say they practice it really don’t plus forget everyone else most Muslims don’t want a sharia themselves. Islam being such a controversial issue, it might not be possible to use zakat. However, the general idea was that society and individuals themselves are responsible for many aspects of poverty and it is their responsibility and duty to fix in the end for their own benefit.
Helping the poor is a requirement for salvation in Christian and strongly emphasized in Judaism (Singer, 19-21). “Every year, Muslims above a minimum level of wealth must give zakat in proportion to their assets (not income),” (Singer,21). Zakat is a type of charity in Islam. There are two types of charity in Islam which is compulsory and optional. Zakat is a compulsory type of charity that every Muslims must give every year. There is a specific amount of money that each person must give for zakat for instance $15 per family member. Zakat al-fitr is given at the end of Ramadhan to help the poor and needy to celebrate Eid (a festival that Muslims around the world celebrate after Ramadhan) the same way like others. By receiving the money from zakat given by others, poor people can buy new clothes to celebrate eid and can buy some food to eat after a month of fasting. The optional type of charity is sadaqa. There is no specific amount of money for sadaqa. People can donate how much they want to donate. Sadaqa is not only in term of money. It can be other things such as donating clothes or toys to people who can’t afford it. The purpose of charity is Islam is not only to help the poor. It is also to help people to eliminate selfishness in in their personality. This is because, by giving to the poor, it shows that we care about people who are less fortunate than us and shows that we are willing to share a
...l Muhammad’s Islamic forces finally took Mecca in an almost bloodless war. Throughout that time, Muhammad had established the Five Pillars of Islam, a creed and code which is considered obligatory for all followers of the Islamic faith consisting of rules varying from required prayer to mandatory pilgrimage. Eventually by Muhammad’s death, he had united the entirety of Arabian tribes under Islam. In Islamic tradition there are only two official holidays. The first is called Eid-al Fitr, which is celebrated at the end of a month of fasting. Generally this day Muslims around the world give Zakat, or charity in good faith. The second, Eid-al Adha, is celebrated from the tenth to the fourteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, which is the month of pilgrimage to Mecca. Traditionally on these days an animal is killed, it’s meat distributed between friends, family, and the poor.
In my opinion, the last three pillars of Islam, mentioned above, connect the Islamic people the most. The Third pillar, Zakat, or charity to the poor, requires each Muslim to pay 2.5% of everything he or she owns to the poor each year. (Molly 442) The fourth pillar requires Muslims to fast during the month of Ramadan.

There is an integration of the religion into the culture. however, not all people in the culture follows the same religion. ...r pillars of public administration are equally important in the process of public administration and complement one another in the provision of quality public service. When public administrators have economy in mind they focus on the best combination of available resources to provide optimum public service. To ensure that public service is not limited to only a section of the public, the issue of equity is taken into consideration so that public interest is realized. The doctrinal dimension is important because ritual prayer of Salat Is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and is always in the direction of the ka’ba the shrine in mecca.
