I chose to do my project on the movie, Hitch. Hitch has always been one of my favorite movies & I was super excited when I saw it was on the list of movie options. The movie is named after the main character, Alex “Hitch” Hitchens, who is played by Will Smith. Hitch is a very successful dating coach. The movie focuses on one particular client, Albert Brennaman, who is played by Kevin James. Albert is a dorky, chubby, financial advisor who has a big crush on the glamorous Allegra Cole, who is played by Amber Valletta. Although, with the help of Hitch, Albert makes great strides with Allegra, Hitch, himself, faces some setbacks when his techniques fail to work on the woman he is after, Sara Melas, played by Eva Mendes. Sara is a tabloid reporter for a gossip column who is looking to expose the love life of Allegra Cole. Through her research and thriving relationship with Hitch, Sara discovers Hitch’s connection to Albert, who is now Allegras boyfriend. Nonverbal communication is so important to pick up on in a relationship because it brings light to opinions and thought that are not voiced. I noticed this concept in the first kiss scene. In this scene, Alex Hitchens is trying to teach his client, Albert Brennaman, how to properly handle a “first kiss” situation. Hitch teaches Albert all the in’s and out’s of what is going on in a woman's head when she is being walked to the door after a date. He states that, “8/10 women believe that the first kiss will tell them everything they need to know about a relationship.” He also talks in depth about what certain actions made by the woman should mean to the man, such as what she does with her keys.
