Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler was released February 16, 2018. What an amazing movie, hands down a favorite of the year! Thrilling story telling, along with grade A acting made for a refreshing experience. The movie challenges the African stereotype of a dirt poor continent with “Wakanda” a fictional nation with technology far more advanced than any other on the plant. Healing machines that take seconds to work, camouflage technology, and rhinos with the power of a tank are just very few aspects Wakanda has to offer. The artist of “Black Panther” really tried to portray what makes this movie great its rich African inspiration. T’Challa birthright was to become the Black Panther which he would inherent with his father’s passing. A ceremony was commence where T’Challa would go in front of the four tribes that made up Wakanda the lion, white-gorilla, panther, and crocodile. These tribes all unite with the exception of white-gorilla under the mineral vibranium which is the strongest metal on the plant and what makes all of Wankanden technology thrive. Vibranium is the source on T’Challa power which was ingested via the heart shape flower. Watching this reminded me of how Peter Parker gained his power through nature expect Parker didn’t digest a flower’s sap but instead was bitten by a spider. This is always something I enjoyed about Marvel movies is how they give back stories to their characters that are more realistic. Wakanda in my opinion is very similar to Stark enterprise with its advanced technology and its reliance on said technology. Watching this movie was such an enriching experience because I am not too familiar with the Marvel universe but I feel like this movie has shed some light. Not knowing much about black panther I was worried about seeing the movie and needing to have some sort of history with it. This was not the case however, the movie is portrayed in the way that anyone can understand it. T’Challa, T’Chaka, Everett Ross, Ulysses Klaue, and Bucky Barnes are all new to me because like I’ve said before I’m not very familiar with the Marvel universe movie adaptations put all of them were played by very skilled actors who make me want to see more of
