In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the utopian society is filled with genetically designed people. There are five caste levels in this society. The higher the job the smarter the person, but each person, no matter if that person is in the higher level or the lower level, are taught that each job is equally important as the other. The people of this society are taught to have only one emotion, happiness. The social relationships in both the society of the Brave New World and the society in America are very different, but both societies are gaining similarities as the American society goes away from traditions. The relationships in the novel differ very much from today’s society. The Brave New World did not accept people who went out of their comfort zones. They prohibited people from having other emotions rather than happiness. Unfortunately, that happiness was not allowed to be used on each other in forms of relationships. As Mustapha Mond says, “Actual happiness always looks pretty squalid in comparison with the over-compensations for misery. There is many emotions like anger, love, and sadness, which are all part of our lives. The relationships cause some of these emotions, but most of the time, they lead up to happiness in the end. The relationships made in this society are real and hopefully last a long time. The relationships in this society are connected by feelings and love which can make bonds so much stronger and happy.
