Over thousands of lives have been affected by the Islamic State in Syria (ISIS) and we should stand by this quote on our most famous monument, and let the Syrian refugees into our country. But, we must take caution and carefully let them into our country to avoid giving access to any criminals. We have always been “the melting point”, that country that excepts people from all around the world. From every country, religion, and race. It would be inhumane to reject these people who have no where to go and have been though so much that most american’s can not say they have experienced. We have contributed multiple resources such as soldiers, weapons, and supplies. There is an intense conflict between a America and a few Muslim countries. If we accept the Muslim refugees and provide aid, it will be an opportunity to improve relations with the countries. The important of being there when needed, is never forgotten. From the Mayflower to the Statue of Liberty, our country has had an open door policy. However it is important to accept the refugees in a responsible way. They should be inspected and checked but overall they should be allowed safety and shelter. As Americans, we value freedom and we should be willing to extend that to others that are willing to accept
We live in a nation that has been called the land of opportunities, a nation that was developed on the hands, sweats and hard work of many people. These same people are those who are from here but are poor, or who come here for a better life and migrated from other countries some by force and others by choice. Mr. Speaker, you are being presented with a unique opportunity to embrace and lead the charge in this reform. The United States is a nation of immigrants. It was built and carried by people who migrated all over the world because they believed in the American Dream. The American Dream is not dead, and immigrants can and will continue to be an incredible positive side to this beautiful nation. But the truth remains, Immigration policies are incredibly outdated and xenophobic. As a nation, America is turning back not only on its foundation and history, but on its future as well. I urge you to aggressively pursue bipartisan Immigration reform this year with or without majority support from The Republican Party. Today, there are over 65 million refugees in the world. That means that one in every 113 people in the world is a refugee. To many, this number may seem extremely alarming. Many refugees struggle to find a place to resettle. America, along with other developed countries, has often been considered dreamland for these displaced people, making many wanting to get out of their war-torn houses and camps. Today many people have different opinions about whether immigrants should be allowed into America freely, or if there should be more harsh regulations to those coming into the country. Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?

Following the Paris tragedy, at least 27 state governors stated their refusal to accept refugees or questioned the admission process. The US State Department has confirmed that the country will accept 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016. This was met with some backlash from modern day Restrictionists, the conservatives.
