Introduction The term culture plays a crucial role in our lives allowing us to fit into a certain group we feel we can relate to. It gives us a sense of who we are, what we do, and how we identify ourselves to the world. Our culture varies upon our customs, ethnicities, religions, language, and gender. It is something that is unique, passed down from generation to generation allowing us to express and carry ourselves with such pride. It influences our behavior leading us to our beliefs, music, cuisine, and traditional wear.
The Definition of Culture Culture is one of the many words we use today that has an infinite amount of meaning depending on who is using it. Here I will list four different viewpoints of culture based on the reviews of sociology, education, political, and anthropology. According to the article, Culture and Society Defined (2016), states that culture “Consists of the beliefs, behaviors, objects, and other characteristics common to the members of a particular group or society”. My version of culture is based on adapting to the community you spend time by learning about your own language, custom, traditional clothes, religion, and music etc. The culture I proudly fit into is the Palestinian Muslim culture. As a Palestinian Muslim, I learned that my family emphasizes on the importance of our language. Whether we are in or outside of our homes we communicate with each other by speaking our native language, Arabic. Our custom includes having a strong bond with your friends and family, to protect to your honor, and to follow upon roles of sovereignty. Culture is expressed through a variety of different ways, from clothing styles to lifestyles to faithful traditions. It can also have a deep impact on the viewpoints of those around you, whether negatively or positively. No matter how a person goes about their everyday life, they can rise above the expectations of their culture to change the world around them. Culture does not have to be the basis of every thought, word, or deed of a person.

When we think about culture everyone has their own definition of what it means and what it should be like, depending on their background and where they came from. This will be a short description of what I think culture means, along with other information’s such as, which cultures I belong to and how they have influenced me. one person can belong to a lot of different cultures based on he/she’s race, ethnicity, music taste…etc., I have selected two of the major cultures that I belong to and tried to describe how they have influenced me along with other information’s about those cultures.

Culture is a pattern of human activities and the symbols that give these activities significance. It is what people eat, how they dress, beliefs they hold and activities they engage in. It is the totality of the way of life evolved by a people in their attempts to meet the challenges of living in their environment, which gives order and meaning to their social, political, economic, aesthetic and religious norms and modes of organization thus distinguishing people from their neighbors.
1. What is Culture? What I personally think is that our culture is the foundation of who we really are in life. It identifies the lifestyle and pursuits that are practiced in the group of people we relate with in our society. In other words, an important concept to understand is that cultural beliefs, values, and practices are learned from birth first at home, in church, and other places where people meet. Some practices and beliefs in human culture include religion, music, sports, food, health beliefs, and art which represent the values we have in life. Also, our own culture is diverse and it is significant to look with in and identify what we value the most, what is essentially needed, and how we see the world. It is our remaining tool and we don’t even realize it is needed to communicate and socialize with others.
What is culture? Culture is identity; it’s the indigenous or non-indigenous ideology, habits, customs, appearances and beliefs that people are either raised by or adapt to from different nations surrounding. It is a network of knowledge shared by a group of people. Culture consists of configurations, explicit and implicit, of and for behavior obtained and spread by symbols establishing the distinctive achievement of human groups including their embodiments in artifacts; the vital core of culture consists of traditional ideas and especially their attached values. Culture systems may, on one hand, be considered as products of action, and on the other, as conditioning influences upon further action.

Cultures take a long time to develop. There are many things that establish identity give meaning to life, define what one becomes, and how one should behave.
Culture, a word almost everyone hears whenever there is sociological discussion that transcends various formats ranging from scholarly articles to local news station broadcasts. Culture contains a myriad of definitions depending on the perspective and lenses used to view it. Since it is a difficult concept to grasp at first, we do not realize the true scale of culture and its responsibility in dictating many actions within our daily lives. Different cultures are found all throughout the world, from the ever increasing western culture to smaller tribal cultures such as the wintu in California (“Vanishing Voices”). What must be taken into account is the fact that culture is heavily intertwined within society, since they both interact with each other in some way.
