This article was a study of 40 south Asian students in predominantly Caucasian Canadian universities to see how racism is affects minorities in the academic community. The basic trend was that special treatment for the minority group affected the academic performance of these students, and that simple awareness for minority groups can prevent discrimination. It was shown that minority group often view their academy with more negativity than other students because they tend to occupy subordinate positions in society while the others are in an upper hierarchy. Aversive racism involves the belief of white superiority and that acting in a cold or subtle discriminate attitude toward to racialized minorities is norm. This subconscious type of racism has stemmed from the fat that NA society is full of hierarchy racial classifications and egalitarian values that result in segregation and discomfort, evolving from the blunt overly exaggerated racial hatred of the past. People that practice aversive racism are often not aware that they do, and only wear a false mask of acceptance when in reality they are discriminate in both thought and action. Democratic racism involves the façade of supporting faith in egalitarian principles but hypocritically undermining and destroying those principles. These paradox of behavior has originated from popular forms of culture that show democratic traits such as acceptance and unity, but also shows stereotypes and racism toward minority groups. This form of racism is aided by the fact that media is everywhere and can be accessed 24/7 for anyone. Everyday racism is racism that’s has been molded through previous historical concepts and social structure inequalities that solidify the view that whites are the denominate race. This type of racism its often only felt by the victim rather than the person exhibiting it.
