I will admit it took me awhile to figure out exactly want I would want my research proposal to be about. I have never written a research paper before so it is critical I pick a topic I feel passionate about. I was debating writing about women in comic books, the amount of violence in comic books, or simply the art and its evolution in comics. At the end, I really could not get out the idea of the representation of the LGBTQA+(Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Asexual, and plus) community in the comic book world. Being a homosexual man myself and with much issues facing the community at the moment, it feels right to me to right about a topic that surrounds my life. Surprisingly, many people in the world are still unaware of the equality, respect, and good the community can offer. There are so many topics I could go into speaking about queers in comics. I think one important topic to talk about are the characters. Is there a positive representation of queer characters in comic books? Are there even many queer characters in comic books? Also, who specifically those characters are and what they have to offer for the queer community. I would also like to talk about the negative sexualization of the queer community in comic books. A good example would be like, Batman and Robin back in the 1940s. Also, if homo-erotica is a thing or a hidden thing in comics. I am sure more topics could come in with talking about the queer community, but my last thought for now would be the future of the queer community and comics. Will there ever be a successful queer super hero? Will queers become more of a normality in comic books? We can start to see it in comics like Batgirl and X-Men. Or, will queers just fade or never escalate in
