Internationalism plays an important role in our globalized world. It has a series of overlapping meanings, all of which revolve around an attempt to regulate political life at the global level in the hopes of constructing a more peaceful order. Internationalism presents many opportunities, then when fulfilled properly, can greatly benefit a nation. This doctrine should be pursued to a great extent because it benefits nations and states by bringing them together, therefore, making them more connected. No nation-state can exist without interacting with other nation-states. When pursuing internationalism, nations can properly address various global issues and promote the common well-being of mankind. The pursuit of internationalism is addressing the issues of the world and these issues are likely to be common interests, therefore, countries can work together to solve these problems. Internationalism plays a significant role in resolving global issues around the world. It raises awareness of problems, such as environmental issues that need to be addressed. Pursuing internationalism can create international agreements, such as the Kyoto Protocol, which was created to raise awareness about the severity of global climate change. Over the past decade, as the evidence of climate change became clearer and better understood, a strong international movement for action has emerged. Climate change is a global challenge that does not respect national borders. Emissions anywhere affect people everywhere, therefore, it is an issue that requires solutions that need to be coordinated at the international level and it requires international cooperation to help developing countries move toward a low-carbon economy. The Kyoto Protocol is an important first step towards truly global emission reduction regime that will stabilize GHG emissions, and can provide the architecture for the future international agreement on climate change.
