Why? Alluding to a related conspiracy theory about the United Nations Small Arms Treaty, he said this was yet another gun-related catastrophe engineered by the United States government in service of the New World Order, a ubiquitous conspiracy theory (which has anti-Semitic roots) that posits a powerful cabal is angling to take Americans’ guns away in order to seize control and establish an autocratic global government (9).” This statement could either be accurate, or it could be a part of the false information Kathryn Olmsted, a history professor at University of California, refers to. The idea behind a New World Order is to achieve peace and prosperity in the world. This is done by the dispersing of political boundaries, the formation of one religion, currency, government, and having a new acceptable set or morals and goals in society. The New World Order can be compared to communism, while the idea on paper looks grand, the actual government and society of the country would not work for various reasons. To start, people are too different whether it be in religion, personality, or lifestyle to all live under one ruling. An oligarchic government would never work due to the simple fact that there is no system of checks and balances therefore little progress and advancement in the political realm of the country would occur. Lastly, the inalienable basic human rights would be taken and people would be stripped of their individualities. While this occurs is some governments in other parts of the world, in the United States people, are allowed certain rights and an adjustment from rights to no rights is now a beneficial one. The combinations of all of these cons would create mayhem, riots, and war amongst citizens. This could inevitably lead to a third world war and from there the apocalypse or an end to life and society as humans know it
