For example, it irritates my soul when someone disrespects someone else. It does not have to be directed towards me. It's just the simple fact that someone was not taught right as a child or that their parents did teach them well, but they just do not care about how others feel. Earlier this month, I was at a restaurant with my family and it was a customer being rude to the waitress by yelling at her and constantly complaining about everything she, accidentally, did wrong. Smack smack smack the sound that just grinds my gears. Everyone has that one thing that just drives them up a wall. Nothing makes me more mad than when people smack their food. Ever since I can remember I've had this total hate rid towards the sound of people smacking their food. This what is the problem in this day and age people just don't have the manners that they had in the olden day. Coming from a family that is very strict at the dinner table, I've developed a set of standard of mine own. First of all smacking is just horrible manors, second it is just disgusting, finally smacking is an easy thing to fix.
Microaggressions are committed constantly, among numerous people without them realizing it. I must say I am completely guilty of also playing part in this act. These acts are done constantly and no one understands the affects it has on people. Miller and Garran (2008) states, “Racial microaggressions are similar to aversive racism. They are “subtle, stunning, often automatic,” verbal and nonverbal putdowns and social assaults that wound people of color unbeknownst to the perpetrator” (p.97). Both films follow the plot of shakespeare’s earlier play, but to what extent is arguable. Ten things I hate about you is a modernised version of the play, so many of the original aspects have been changed to appeal to a modern audience. 10 Things I Hate About You takes William Shakespeare’s classic play, The Taming of the Shrew and manages to make it relevant to a modern audience. The story remains the same with the younger sister, Bianca, not allowed to have a relationship until her older sister, Kat, does. They did maintain several original scenes and even used several direct quotes from the original play. The writers have eliminated some of Bianca’s suitors and changed the way Kat is tamed to appeal to a modern audience. Shakespeare would have agreed with the casting of the movie. This movie may turn Shakespeare’s work into a teen comedy but it maintains many of the elements that made the play such a hit.
I carried out each violation of nonverbal norms five times with five different people, all within five different places. First violation took place at my local supermarket. I was in line with my shopping cart ready to check out. In front of me was an individual also checking out. I decided to bring my shopping cart as close to them as I can without touching them. Every time I did that, they would move further away from the cart. I did it at least three times before the individual turned around and gave me a firm look with their eyes as I looked down.
Phobias are a very common disorder in the United States these days. The definition for phobia is "an abnormal or morbid fear or aversion" ("Oxford" 655). To be considered a phobia, a fear must cause great distress or interfere with a person’s life in a major way. The word phobia is Greek, therefore, any word that proceeds it should be Greek too. To coin a new phobia name, it is proper and only accepted to follow this rule. The rule has been broken many times in the past, especially by the medical profession. The medical profession is steeped in Latin and many times when forming a name for phobia, they use Latin.
I am a really nice person, I have dreams, and I set high expectations for myself. There are a couple of things that stand in my way and doesn’t allow to achieve my goals, but what bothers me the most- RBF. Pet Peeve —noun: a particular and often continual annoyance; a personal bugbear. Everyone has one: those actions, words, personalities, or items that bug someone to no end. These are called pet peeves, and I, for one, have many. But I have to say at the top of my list would have to be people who believe they're entitled, blatant rudeness or disrespect for others, and rumors. These three things irk me to the point where my skin crawls.

My feelings begin to fester and I become more sensitive to other things that normally wouldn’t tick me off, but do, because I am still upset about the first problem. Before you know it, I blow up and everything comes out anyway. Usually the person I am upset with has to hear about what they did a month ago and everything in between. This puts that person on the defense and nothing really gets accomplished until a few days later when we all calm down to discuss the issue. So logically if I dealt with my feelings in the beginning, the blowouts could be avoided and I could calmly get my point across with little conflict.
