Come on, come all to the first ever West Virginia World’s Fair. It has a nice ring to it don’t you think? This year several towns are being considered for the spot of host for the World’s Fair. It is my belief Lewisburg, WV should be this year’s host of the fair due to the fact that Lewisburg has much to offer. Lewisburg is a location close to the airports, home of the state fairgrounds, and was voted coolest little town in West Virginia.
On the other hand, opposers may say the town is not a good option. The mountains terrain may cause some to vote against the idea. Others may agree that there are not enough attractions to draw crowds. The location is not central to airports making travel and issue. It can also be said that the town’s too small for such an event. Several remakes can and will be made against the idea because they want the fair to be held in their hometown.

A world’s fair in Lewisburg is a wonderful idea! Lewisburg is large enough to host the state fair, and I believe it is, in fact, large enough to host the world fair. There are several hundred open acres to house vendors of all sorts and the parking area is already available. This town has already been recognized as the smallest little town in WV. The exposition displayed grand buildings with beautiful architecture, hundreds of exhibits ranging from exotic tribes of Africa, to new inventions, expertly constructed landscape, and astounding attractions such as the first Ferris wheel. The fair lasted for six months and had over 27 million visitors, including ¼ of the American population.

Cedar Fair owns and operates 11 amusement parks, six outdoor water parks, one indoor water park as well as five hotels (Cedar Fair, 2013). One of the amusement parks is known by the name of Kings Dominion and it is located in Doswell, Virginia. The Kings Dominion Park caters to young adults and has a huge water park that is called WaterWorks.

After discussing the tourist problem with other Atlantic City business owners, the idea of a “Fall Frolic” was created. The Fall Frolic included a two-day competition to be called “Atlantic City’s Inter-City Beauty Pageant”, in years after it would be known as the “Miss America Pageant” (Miss America, 2/20/2011).

The number two reason I love West Virginia is the fun recreational activities it has to offer. In the spring I can go watch a baseball game, or take a relaxing walk through the beautifully flowered gardens. In the summer I may enjoy a soothing swim, or white water raft down the New River. Also in the fall I can walk through Grandview State Park and see the various colors of the leaves. After my walk I could stop by the theater and take in a production of Annie. These are just a few of the recreational activities that I enjoy every year in West Virginia.
