Nasa, Elon Musk, and many other agencies have been and are still trying to develop technology and ways to have people in Mars by the 2030's. There are many people for and against this idea and have their own reasons why such as, people shouldn't be sent to mars because of physical and Mental health problems. Also because of the lack of resources and having too much of certain resources. Ed Regis in his article "Let's Not Move to Mars", sates, "Your bone mass wastes away, your teeth become more susceptible to cavities . . . "(Regis). This quote shows how the human body will become more susceptible for health problems to occur to it such as cavities and the bone mass wastes away. This quote also shows how humans can put themselves in danger by going to Mars because there are many different health problems that can occur to them. As well as creating physical health, going to Mars also creates mental health dangers. Regis also states, " Every source of interpersonal conflict, and emotional and psychological stress that we experience in ordinary, day-to-day life on earth will be magnified exponentially by restriction to a tiny, hermetically sealed, pressure-cooker capsule hurtling through deep space" (Regis). This quote shows how people are more commonly to feel emotional and psychological problems and more than what they go through here up in Mars and on the way there. This quote shows how one of the bigger risks when people go to Mars is the lack of food. It can become a big problem to the point where people that take the risk to go to Mars can lose their life. Even though the lack of resources is a big problem having too much of something such as oxygen can also be bad. According to Extreme Tech "The problem is, plants produce a lot of oxygen – and in a closed environment, too much oxygen is a bad thing (things start to spontaneously explode)" (Extreme Tech). Mars is a closed environment in which if you have too much oxygen that can become a problem.
