Chemical Castration Chemical castration is a treatment that lowers the testosterone levels of a male sex offender so they have less of an urge to sexually assault another victim. Many doctors do not agree with this type of procedure because it goes against human rights, also doctors cannot perform anything that can be torturous to a human being. One in four girls and one in six boys have been sexually abused before the age of 18. Most sexual assault perpetrators usually reoffend just two years after their first offense. Some studies show that the chemical castration medication had worked on some offenders, while others were not successful. This option can assist those who want to curb their sexual urges as well as those who are mandated by law to seek treatment for their sexual behavior. Chemical castration has its pros and cons but the benefits outweigh the goods. While this is an expensive option, it does prove to work by eliminating the libido of those who use it. This treatment could save countless victims form the pain of dealing with a sexual assault. The positives of chemical castration outweigh the negatives that the offenders would deal with in their lives. For example, it has saved a man’s marriage. Having an addiction to sex is a real problem and many of the offenders notice that they truly do have a problem. When the offenders’ notices that they need help, many of them request to have the medication just to save them from their everyday lives. Going back to the incident that happened with my best friend, I will always feel so strongly towards anything that can potentially help prevent offenses of sexual assault. Many people view this type of procedure in different ways, but if there is a way to help people prevent the effects of their sexual drive, and help more and more people from becoming victims of sexual assault, why not try everything we can to reduce this type of
