Health-related Community Services
Very few, if any, communities and schools offer free or inexpensive health screenings to students within a school setting. The intervention program will offer free screenings to students as part of annual and pre-participation athletic physical examinations in order to identify the start of anorexia at its earliest phases and terminate any further development in the first week of third month. The health screenings will be confidential and noninvasive, including weight, height, and body mass index (BMI) measurements and questions about eating patterns and body image. Since the screening exams will be noninvasive, well-trained volunteers will be able to conduct the screenings and examine weight and height extensively while giving thorough attention to possible indicators of disordered eating habits. This strategy falls under the perceived threat construct of the Health Belief Model, which refers to the belief of both the susceptibility and severity to a negative health behavior. Providing students with this health-related community service strategy will allow the target populace to view anorexia as risky and life-threatening, which in turn will initiate a stimulus to act toward a behavior change.

Community Mobilization Strategies
Community mobilization refers to the empowering process of building social relationships in which community members plan, carry out, and evaluate activities of a program in pursuit of mutual community interests. The “NO body is perfect, but EVERY body is beautiful” coalition team will provide an interactive informational luncheon for the parents and their children about the program intervention, anorexia awareness, and ways to get involved within the community. ...e “Miss Inner Beauty” pageant. This pageant is not merely an enchanting night of formal dresses and big curly hair; it is a celebration of inner beauty in adolescence. The program has designed this pageant to help build self-confidence and a positive body image in young girls and women. Students that are interested in participation in the pageant, and will submit their participation forms and the candidates will be selected at random. The “Miss Inner Beauty” pageant will be held on May 15, 2014. This social activity will implement the construct of self-efficacy in the HBM. The purpose of the pageant is to encourage and inspire young women to treasure their inner qualities in a world that is known to only nurture outer appearance while providing tools to teach various skills sets to empower young ladies to find inner beauty and be successful in every aspect of life.
