The millennial generation is uninformed of the problems that can affect how life will run in the future. Future generations could be effected by natural resources including soils being damaged and forests being rapidly depleted, this way affecting natural processes such as photosynthesis, the nitrogen cycle, and a constant food source (Calon. D & Freedberg). Other problems like the depletion of water resources and extensive contribution to CO2 buildup in the atmosphere, like pollution and deforestation is exponentially adding to the negative impacts of overpopulation and lack of resources. This a worldwide issue as it does not only depend on their native stocks of resources, but the outsourcing to other nations for their specialized products (Calon. D & Freedberg). Overpopulation has become such a problem laws had to be inflicted in some countries like China and India; who are the world most overpopulated countries.
As the world 's populace develops, the world 's issues appear to be developing right alongside it. Many of the problems the world faces

For this to work, it is all tried and true on two essential components: the quantity of individuals on every nation and the normal measure of assets accessible individual and the normal measure of contamination created (Carr). The normal way of life of every nation is identified with the assets accessible, in light of the fact that the more individuals, the more contamination is delivered, and more assets are utilized. In the event that a method can be produced to diminish the natural foot shaped impression every individual it can be an exceptionally valuable method for reducing the interest of Earth 's regular assets, and a more mindful attitude of the impacts of overpopulation in the present and the fate of our era
The worldwide population is approaching 7 billion and is expected to reach 9 billion by 2050 (Baird). This projected population number is down from a once predicted 16 billion (Baird) and while some are not concerned, others are worried about any increase in population. Population growth is discussed in the articles “Too Many People?” by Vanessa Baird; “Population Control: How Can There Possibly Be Too Many of Us?” by Frank Furedi; and “The Population Bomb Revisited,” by Paul R. Ehrlich and Anne H. Ehrlich. Baird and Furedi concur that a concern for population growth has been around since mathematician Thomas Malthus, in 1798, warned that overpopulation could lead to “the collapse of society” (Furedi). Furedi claims that too much human life is being used as an excuse, by population control supporters, for the world’s current and future problems. Baird tries to discover if “the current panic over population growth is reasonable.” For Ehrlich and Ehrlich the concern over population growth is very real, and they reinforce and support their book “calling attention to the demographic element in the human predicament” (Ehrlich and Ehrlich 63). While taking different approaches to their articles, the authors offer their perspectives on population growth, population control and the environmental impacts of a growing population.
Millennials: What do others think of them? “Lazy, narcissistic, tech obsessed” are some of the most common terms used to describe the Millennial generation; but are these too stereotypical, are people misinterpreting Millennials? The main question this essay will seek to answer is, what do others think about the Millennial generation, and to what extent are these opinions correct? To answer this question, three views, of three different people/entities will be taken. The first, by Joel Stein (Generation X), a prominent writer working with Time magazine, suggests that Millennials are lazy, narcissistic, fame-obsessed and very influenced by peers, through his article “Millennials:
Garret Hardin’s “Tragedy of the Commons” is an article that identifies the nation’s current problems and predicaments that can’t be resolved through the use of technical solutions. Hardin’s work heavily focuses on overpopulation, a prominent and unceasing issue that significantly distorts and affects the stability of the Earth and the abundance of the planet’s resources. In his article, he mentioned some reasonable and important solutions to overpopulation, but he also explained its downside and how the said solutions may not be ideal and practical. “Tragedy of the Commons” revealed that the human population will continue to flourish and how it will be greatly detrimental to our society unless individuals get the education that they need and
Finances play a part in everyone’s lives. According to critics, the generation of Millennials have not been the most accomplished in this area. However, new information is on the rise, and it shows that Millennials are becoming more financially stable. The generation of Millennials is a broad group. The group of Millennials associated in this discussion are from the beginning of the Millennial generation, which are those born between the 1980s and 1990s. The Millennials generation itself ranges from the 1980s to 2004. After the Great Recession, the older generation of Millennials had a massive setback with financial security. Since then, Millennials have always been known for having poor finances by critics. Millennials may not
that go into an individual being considered selfcentered. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary being selfcentered means to be “too interested in yourself and not caring about the needs or feelings of other people” (“Selfcentered”). Is there any way to measure how selfcentered someone is? A question that pertains to this topic asks, is the latest generation more selfcentered than the generation before? When it comes to this generation there are many varying opinions. There are many reasons the millennial generation is more selfcentered than previous generations.
Among the fears of many environmentalists is that of overpopulation. Acutely aware of the finite resources that the planet possesses and the limitations of renewable resources, there are concerns that the planet may soon reach its maximum caring capacity. Since the First Great Transition ten thousand years ago, the planet has experienced an astounding increase in population. Generations later, the planet is beginning to feel the effects of continual population expansion. Over the years, numerous methods have been proposed or adopted to ensure that the Earth will not exhaust its resources. One of the most frightening adapted solutions was the eugenics movement.
If this paradigm is flipped then it is easy to see that this advancement of Millennials compared to previous generations is normal and in fact beneficial to the greater society. So far Millennials have been achieving those leadership positions and already at a young age they are starting to rule the world. Rather than having a negative attitude towards the transition from Baby Boomers and the Generation X to the Millennials, the generations should work together and learn from each other. Parents from previous generations should be proud of how they raised their children—they are succeeding in life. Most Millennials have even been holding off on marriage and children until they have a attain stability. They have an agenda, and they’re achieving
The standard way of thinking about millennials is that they are lazy, entitled and selfish kids who still live in their parents basement. In his interview The Millennial Generation and internet addiction, Simon Sinek (2017) maintains that millennials have been dealt a bad hand and the world should change to accommodate them. Sinek discusses the four main reasons he believes for millenials are dissatisfied or unhappy. In his discussion of millennials, Sinek used the typical stereotype of a whole generation as a springboard to talk about the problems facing Gen Y (another name for Millennials).
It is a known fact that the world population is increasing without bound; however, there is a debate if this increase is a good thing or if it will prove catastrophic. The article “The Tragedy of the Commons” by Garrett Hardin discusses how the ever-increasing world population will exhaust the world of its natural resources, and eliminate human’s capability of survival. On the other side of the argument is Julian L. Simon who wrote “More People, Greater Wealth, More Resources, Healthier Environment.” This article proposes the theory that with an increase in population, human’s quality of life is amplified. One particular issue that they both mention and have drastically different views on is the future of agriculture and human’s ability to sustain it.
Human population growth was relatively slow for most of human history. Within the past 500 years, however, the advances made in the industrial, transportation, economic, medical, and agricultural revolutions have helped foster an exponential, "J-shaped" rise in human population (Southwick, Figure 15.1, p. 160). The statistics associated with this type of growth are particularly striking: "Human beings took more than 3 million years to reach a population of 1 billion people...The second billion came in only 130 years, the third billion in 30 years, the fourth billion in 15 years, the fifth billion in 12 years..." (Southwick, p. 159). As human population has grown, there has been simultaneous growth within the industrial sector. Both of these increases have greatly contributed to environmental problems, such as natural resource depletion, ecosystem destruction, and global climate change. Also linked with the increasing human population are many social problems, such as poverty and disease. These issues need to be addressed by policy makers in the near future in order to ensure the survival and sustainability of human life.
Human population growth is becoming a huge issue in our world today. The population is increasing rapidly. The reason that it is becoming a concern is because it has affected the economic, environmental, and social aspects of our world. In the film Frontline: Heat, we can see how there might not be a future for our planet unless we are able to reduce the emissions and make our world a safe place. Not only for the present but also for future generations so that they are able to live long and healthy lives.
Impoverished countries are suffering because of overpopulation. Overpopulation remains the leading driver of hunger, desertification, species depletion and a range of social maladies across the planet (Tal, 2013). If you look at the world most of the countries that are dealing with these problems it is due to overpopulation. Impoverished countries do not have the money or resources to help them overcome this issue (Tal, 2013). Impoverished countries also do not have the medicine or technology to even prevent the most common of illnesses (Tal, 2013). Malnutrition is also affecting...
It is safe to say that the working life for millennial generation has been and will be different to that of generations past. Gurenteed jobs after leaving school, college, or university are now a thing of the past. These days placing responsibility of your career progression into the hands of someone else can even be considered passé.
...contemporary environmental crisis, we are able to gather a concise understanding of issues that are often hard to explain yet alone understand. Wealth has become a power system evoking dualism of the western and third world. Power and quality of life is measured against the wealth of an individual. This is a result of human’s tendency to over utilize and eventually deplete the resources available to them inevitably leading to overpopulation. In the next fifty years, the success of the environmental movement may depend much more on its ability to change ethics and values. Environmental philosophy gives an invaluable lens into the issues of overpopulation by deconstructing complex dynamics within society. By spreading ideas within environmental philosophy to all different corners of the globe then everyone will have a chance to learn how to live rightly in the world.
As the largest generation on the planet (Jenkins), the Millennials (otherwise known as generation Y) have faced plenty of scrutiny from the previous generations. A Millennial is the demographic group made up of anyone who was born between the years 1980 and 2000. This group of young people has proved to be a great contribution to society and also to the advancement of technology. They do things in their own ways and on their own terms, always approaching a problem in the most efficient way possible for everyone. Millennials have settled numerous issues in our society and they are expected to change our world exponentially. Millennials adapt to new technologies very quickly, however, while Millennials see themselves in generally positive terms such as ‘tech-savvy’ and ‘up to date’, many people from the older generations see them as ‘spoiled’ and ‘lazy’. The new technologies do make living everyday life easier and more functional, however, Millennials are not at all ‘lazy’ for taking advantage of them. Millennials use these new tools in incredibly innovative ways and they see the world in a completely different light.
