No one person should have ultimate power, because it will always end in corruption. Although it may be hard to believe as an individual that you would become corrupt when given power, it seems like it is in human nature to dominate when in a position of privilege. Empathy and social intelligence play an important role when acquiring power, but these skills usually fade away when actually in a position of power. This is known as the power paradox as described by Dacher Keltner, a professor of psychology, and it explains how people would become corrupt.
