Possible HIV Solutions

HIV is a devastating virus that affect nearly 35.3 million individuals worldwide (Fuller). The devastation of this virus ranks alongside with some of the most deadly threats to human life such as terrorist activities, biological threats and nuclear technology (Smith). HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus and is what will eventually lead to AIDS or acquired immune deficiency syndrome ( HIV”).The HIV virus slowly destroy the CD4 cells of the immune system. This will eventually leave the body defenseless and prone to opportunistic infections that the body could otherwise fight. These opportunistic infections will quickly lead to death. HIV is a serious threat to human life. Since its first reported case nearly 30 years ago AIDS has claimed 36 million lives as well as present day infected 35.3 million individuals around the world (Fuller). Not only does this devastating virus impact human life, but it also threatens nation economies and political stability by robbing society of its most productive members.

HIV can easily be spread from person to person through sexual contact as well as contact with other body fluids such as breast milk or blood. An individual with HIV will most likely never experience any symptoms for as much as 10 years.(“HIV”). This makes it very easy to spread the virus to others. Most commonly younger individuals contract the disease however anybody can get HIV. In developed countries like the United States, a individuals with HIV can live about the normal life expectancy with some help of medication that significantly slow the progression of HIV into AIDS. However this is not the case for most developing African countries, which by far take the blunt of the HIV/AIDS devastation with 24.5 million out...

...rus. This education will enable individuals who are not yet infected a better chance to protect themselves from the virus. Education with an emphasis on prevention is the only way that we can completely eradicate the destruction of HIV/AIDS.
