Entomology 2003 Final Project There are over hundreds of phobias that deal with different things that consist of words, feelings, and animals. There have been close to 530 different phobias named. A phobia is when there is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something. There are seventeen named phobias just for insects, that does not include Animalia. There are plenty of things in the world that people fear, but people fear the things that they cannot describe. There are many different types of phobias that pertain to insects or any type of insect. There are over 14 different names for insects. The first of the phobias is acarophobia. It is the fear of itching or of the insects that cause itching. The second phobia is apiphobia. Apiphobia is the fear of bees. The next of the phobias is arachnephobia or arachnophobia. Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders. The fourth phobia is entomophobia, the fear of insects. The next phobia is helminthophobia, which is the fear of being infested with worms. The sixth phobia is insectophobia, which is also the fear of insects. The next phobia is isopterophobia, the fear of termites; insects that eat wood. The eighth phobia is katsaridaphobia. Katsaridaphobia is the fear of cockroaches. The next phobia is melissophobia, which is the fear of bees. The tenth phobia is mottephobia, the fear of moths. Myrmecophobia is the fear of ants. The twelfth phobia is parasitophobia, the fear of parasites. Pediculophobia and phthiriophobia are both the fear of lice. Scoleciphobia is the fear of worms. Spheksophobia is the fear of wasps. Taeniophobia or teniophobia is the fear of tapeworms. Augmented reality gives a bigger feeling of presence and the reality judgment than virtual reality because the environment and the elements that people use to interact are real. Presence is the sensation of being there. Reality judgment is the judging of an experience as real. The difference between augmented reality and virtual reality, is that in augmented reality is that you see what is in front of you and with virtual reality is that the experience is stimulated.
